A Profound Touch of California's FAQ's
Is payment required at the time of booking?
We require a credit/debit card on file in order to hold your session for No-Show protection. We collect this information in our intake paperwork prior to your first session. Payment will be processed upon checkout with the card on file, unless otherwise stated.
Fees are collected at the time of service and are based on the length of your session.
We accept Cash, Checks, Credit Cards & Online Payments.
Cancellation policy?
We require 48 hours notice for any scheduling changes, including rescheduling or cancelling. The full service price will be charged if you cancel or reschedule any less than 48 hours. Clients can opt in to receive confirmation texts/emails 48 hours, 24 hours, and/or 2 hours prior to their reservation as a courtesy reminder. If you have trouble opting in, please ask your therapist to subscribe you. It is the clients responsibility to remember their session times. Therapists are not responsible for making sure you are opted in to receiving reminders.
What if I’m running late?
If you're running late, please contact your therapist as soon as possible. If we haven’t heard from you within 15 minutes of your scheduled start time, the session will be considered a no-show, and the appropriate fee will be charged to the card on file. Please note that sessions will end at the originally scheduled time to respect other clients’ appointments. For example, if your session is booked from 1:00–2:00 PM and you arrive at 1:15, your session will still end at 2:00 PM.
What do I wear?
For CranioSacral Therapy, please wear loose, comfortable clothing, as sessions are done fully clothed. For integrated massage sessions, only the area being worked on will be undraped. Clients are invited to undress to their comfort level and will be covered with a sheet throughout the session. To ensure the safety and comfort of everyone, all massage therapists strictly adhere to professional, modest draping practices.
Should I bring anything?
Just bring yourself and a water bottle. We provide bottled water to our clients upon request, but several people prefer to bring their own. Everything else you need for your session will be taken care of by our clinic. If there’s anything you'd like to share—like health updates or areas you'd like to focus on—we can talk about that when you arrive.
How long are sessions?
We offer multiple session lengths. The standard lengths for sessions are either 60 minutes or 90 minutes. Under special circumstances, we offer 30 minute sessions (usually for children and individuals who cannot tolerate longer sessions) and 120 minute sessions (usually for SomatoEmotional Release or for extreme cases that require more time).
What should I expect during my first session?
Each session is tailored to your unique needs and may look a little different depending on the modality used. Your therapist will begin with a short conversation to understand your goals, health history, and any areas of focus. From there, you’ll settle into the treatment plan, whether it’s CranioSacral Therapy, massage, or a combination of both.
To learn more about specific modalities and what your session might include, please visit our “What to Expect” page.
Can I book a session if I’m pregnant?
Absolutely. We recognize that the needs of a woman’s body during pregnancy are unique and dynamic—and we’re here to support you every step of the way. We offer Prenatal and Postnatal CranioSacral Therapy, as well as Postnatal Massage Therapy. To find the best fit for your needs, please visit our “Meet Our Team” page for details on each therapist’s training and modalities. If you have a specific concern about receiving bodywork during pregnancy, we encourage you to consult with your doctor first. Your safety and comfort are our top priorities, and sessions can always be adapted to meet you where you are in your pregnancy journey.
Can I book a session if I have a medical condition or recent injury?
Yes—many clients seek bodywork to support their health or recovery. However, massage therapy is not appropriate during the acute phase of an injury, such as recent sprains, strains, or broken bones. If you're unsure whether massage is right for your condition, we recommend checking with your doctor first.
Please note: massage therapists are not licensed to diagnose medical conditions or prescribe medications. While we may suggest gentle exercises or self-care techniques to support your progress, we always recommend consulting your doctor or physical therapist before beginning any new movement or rehabilitation plan. Our work is intended to complement—not replace—your medical care.
Do you accept insurance or HSA/FSA cards?
We accept both HSA and FSA. Clients are responsible for notifying their company and acquiring referrals if necessary.
CranioSacral Therapy is recognized as an effective therapy in the field of Alternative and Complimentary Medicine. This means that your sessions may be covered by medical insurance. We do not bill insurance companies, but we can provide you with a receipt so you can request reimbursement.
How often should I come for sessions?
Session frequency depends on your individual needs and goals. Some clients benefit from coming twice a week, while others find that weekly or monthly sessions are enough to support their well-being. You and your therapist will discuss the best treatment plan for you during your session, based on what your body needs and how you’re feeling.
Can I combine CranioSacral Therapy and massage in one session?
Yes, absolutely! Our therapists are trained in multiple massage modalities and can integrate them with CranioSacral Therapy to create a customized session. Whether you’re seeking relief from muscle tension, emotional support, or nervous system regulation, we’ll tailor your treatment to align with your specific goals. We work closely with you (and any relevant care providers) to ensure your session is effective and supportive of your needs.
