Makayla is a Certified Massage Therapist and Health Educator who is passionate about supporting individuals living with chronic pain—something she knows from personal experience. After her second surgery for endometriosis removal, she felt inspired to help others navigating similar challenges. She credits her journey to the compassionate practitioners who supported her along the way and continue to motivate her work.

Her sessions are often guided by intuition—while she addresses the areas clients bring up, she also follows where her hands are naturally drawn. She’s passionate about helping clients explore new ways of understanding and addressing discomfort, and she loves empowering people with tools to help themselves feel better. Each time she sees relief or joy on a client’s face, she’s reminded why she chose this path.

Makayla joined A Profound Touch of California as an extern in late 2024. After just one day, she knew it was where she wanted to be. She officially became part of the team in April 2025 and looks forward to many meaningful experiences ahead.

Offered Modalities

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is a widely practiced technique known for its relaxing and therapeutic effects. It involves a series of long, flowing strokes, kneading, and circular movements to improve circulation, reduce muscle tension, and enhance overall relaxation and well-being.

Deep Tissue

Deep Tissue Massage focuses on the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. It employs slow, deliberate strokes and targeted pressure to address chronic tension and muscle knots. While this technique often involves significant pressure, more pressure is not always necessary to achieve effective results. The goal is to work through layers of tension carefully, allowing for improved flexibility, reduced pain, and deeper muscle relaxation. The therapist adjusts the intensity based on the client’s needs and response, ensuring a therapeutic experience tailored to individual comfort and effectiveness.

Keep in mind that soreness is pretty common after the treatment. After a session, it's best for the client to take it easy for the remainder of the day and to drink plenty of water to aid in flushing and removing toxins released from the tissue during the session.

Myofascial techniques are a form of soft tissue therapy intended to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and rebalance the entire body. It does this by using massage techniques to stretch the fascia and release the bonds that exist between the fascia, muscles and bones.

Fascia is the connective tissue that connects and covers all muscles, organs, and skeletal structures of the body.

Direct myofascial release can sometimes resemble deep tissue work. Indirect release applies light pressure and gently stretches the fascia; this allows for increased blood circulation and relief from pain.

Energy Work

Energy work is based on the belief that everyone has a “life force”, and that the body needs to sustain its balance for optimum health. Anytime you experience emotional or physical illness, it indicates that your life force has simply become unbalanced. The Practitioner will work directly with your energy field to restore balance and flow to your entire system. Once your energy field has been restored to full health, your physical body will follow. Energy Work encompasses various techniques designed to balance and enhance the body's subtle energy systems. This modality includes practices such as Reiki and Qigong, which aim to harmonize the body's energy flow, reduce stress, and promote holistic healing by addressing both physical and emotional imbalances.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy targets specific areas of muscle tension known as trigger points—tight, hyperirritable spots that can cause localized or referred pain. By applying sustained pressure, this method helps release muscular tension, reduce spasms, and restore ease of movement throughout the body.
